To say this is a popular gathering place for motorcycle enthusiasts would be giving a new meaning to "understatement." I knew there were a lot of bikes in the Jacksonville area, but I was a little startled when Heather told me this was a bit early and the crowd hadn't yet arrived. Heather? She's the incredible woman behind the bar (the inside bar) that makes all this work. If you sit at the bar and just watch Heather, you'll get a little dizzy after just a few minutes. I bet she sprints fifty miles each night in there, stays on top of food and drink orders, keeps track of the rest of the | ![]() |

staff and makes sure that everything keeps working, including a kick-butt band whose sound I could hear over my motorcycle engine all the way from the St. Augustine Airport. Every kind of motorcycle was there. I saw three wheelers with the two wheels in front AND in back. There was a classic Trike that looked a little bit like a Mercedes Benz complete with Air conditioning, GPS and full set of air flaps for slowing down from super-sonic velocities. I think it's fair to say that The Bayard Rooster has a lot to crow about. | ![]() |
| The Bayard Rooster is very sensitive toward the needs of its many and varied guests. The rack on the right for hanging up articles of clothing that are unneeded inside the bar is just one of the many amenities available to the clientele. Of course, many of the customers forget to retrieve their clothing before leaving for the night. The Rooster hangs on to them in case the owners return. Many people who leave clothing behind sign it so that they can find it more easily when they return and so that others know who it belongs to. I noticed the cup sizes are much larger than the ones I saw at Boot Hill in Daytona Beach. I wonder why? I guess Daytona Beach is the home of the "little cup cake." |

The tent, above, houses displays of crafts and Bike-Culture clothing and other articles. Some of them said "Buck" on them. Others said "Gerber" or "Case" and they looked very sharp. |
I found the bar to be very friendly with plenty of attractive conversationists. Some of them, I believe had donated clothing to the rack (above center). |
There are Multiple bars, a large covered porch, an indoor dining room/pool room and loads of places outside to sit and eat. DON'T forget to come hungry.
This is a big dog, not a motorcycle. He requested that I not photograph him. After I disobeyed his request, I found it wise to leave in a hurry. |
To get here, come south on U.S.1 from the Avenues Mall. The Bayard Rooster is just a few miles on the left. You can't miss it. Watch for a lot of Chrome. |
