D'Arcy McGee's is the place to go for a rollicking Middle Finger Birthday Party. The truth is that the Welsh Longbow and the English Longbow originated on the Emerald Isle. The idea was stolen, part and parcel by Manannan MacLyr and given to King Kynvelyn ( 18 BC-AD 12) in exchange for the hand of his youngest Daughter Gwaedan. The obvious revelation is that the Longbow was not an English or Welsh invention, but IRISH! |

D'Arcy McGee's Irish Pub is definitely the place to be on cold winter nights, and Buffalo does get some cold winter nights! Not one, but TWO grand hearths warm this haven for the thirsty. With what seems like Leprechaun Magic, D'Arcy's achieves a feeling of coziness in a truly spacious Tavern. It large warp-around bar in the center is supported by a couple of smaller ones, plenty of dining areas and an honest to God Irish menu that leaves no Blarney Stone unturned. |

D'Arcy McGee's is a great place to meet interesting people. Check out Micky O'Brien, far right, who offered me a big cigarette, Park Drives. This tobacco is grown and packaged in Southern Ireland. |
D'Arcy McGee's is worth a visit even if all you want to do is take a look at the architecture - interesting stuff here. |

Welcome to D'Arcy McGee's Irish Pub At D'Arcy McGee's we strive to provide a warm friendly environment where everyone can enjoy great food, a wide selection of imported and domestic beers as well as traditional distilled spirits and enjoyable entertainment. Our bar represents authentic Irish craftsmanship and was shipped directly from Old World cabinet makers in County Wexford Ireland. Its antiques were hand picked from various auction houses in Ireland to add the feeling of being right in a bar right in the heart of the Emerald Isle. Our bar is named after Thomas D'Arcy McGee (1825-1868), and Irish-Canadian Politician and Writer. A journalist and poet as well as a politician, Thomas D'Arcy McGee was a gifted speaker and strong supporter of Confederation. His views regarding Irish republicanism may have resulted in his assassination in 1868. Thomas D'Arcy McGee was born in Carlingford, Ireland, the some of James McGee and Dorcas Catherine Morgan. While he was still a child, the family moved to Wexford where he received an informal education. In 1842 McGee left Ireland and traveled to North America where he joined the staff of the Boston Pilot, Ca Catholic Newspaper. Two years later, at the age of nineteen, he became the editor of the paper, using his position to lobby for Irish Independence and the rights of Irish Catholic immigrants. He also supported the American annexation of Canada. In 1845, McGee returned to Ireland to work at the Freemen's journal, and later The Nation. He married Mary Teresa Caffrey in dublin on July 13, 1847. He became involved in the Young Ireland movement and the Irish rebellion of 1848, which failed. He was forced to flee to the United Sates, where he continued to edit newspapers, including his own, The Nation, agitate for Irish independence and devise projects for the betterment if Irish immigrants. When McGee's projects failed to gain support, he moved to Montreal in 1857 at the invitation of the Irish community, there. |

A full Ulster Fry served in Belfast, Northern Ireland An Ulster fry is similar to an Irish Fry, popular throughout Northern Ireland and the three counties of Uslter which lie in the Republic of Ireland (Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal). A traditional Ulster Fry consists of bacon, eggs, sausages (either pork or beef), the farl form of soda bread (the farl split in half crosswise to expose the inner bread, then fried with the exposed side down), sometimes a pancake and potato bread. Other common components include mushrooms or wheaten bread. All this is traditionally fried. The Ulster Fry is often served for lunch or dinner in households and cafes around the province. Emigrants have also popularized the serving of an Ulster Fry outside Northern Ireland. |
