The Old Jail is located about a hundred fifty yards north of the motel. Built in 1891, it served as St. Johns County's prison. This jail is now open for tours, if you dare! It is one of St. Augustine's most haunted buildings. The Old St. Augustine History Museum is there too. Don't miss it! The Old Mission La Mission De La Nombre De Dios is just south of Howard Johnson's. This is where it all began, where Menendez landed on September 8, 1565 and founded the City of St. Augustine. |
