Jackalopes

is celebrating

the birthday of the

Middle Finger Salute -

Henry V's Victory

at the

Battle of Agincourt

October 25, 1415

The Wild Jackalope

is a rare sight in the wilderness. They're a very shy animal, much

like the Eastern, Striped Back Snipe. If you've ever been on a

Snipe Hunt or a Wild Goose Chase, you'll definitely know what I

mean.  How the species arose is a mystery to modern science.

Everyone knows a rabbit isn't tall enough to mount an Antelope

and an Antelope, in rut, would likely kill a rabbit.  It is theorized

that in ancient times, a species of tiny antelope roamed North

America and that the cross breeding took place at that

time. Where ever the truth may lie, you will find Jackalopes

roaming the darker places of the forest, or Charlotte North

Carolina, where ever you happen to be looking for good food and

drinks.  Strangely, I found no Jackalopes at Jackalope's.  They

must have been hiding. The pict to the left is from a Jackalope

Ranch owned by a friend of mine in Wyoming.

Jackalopes

is a great place for a quiet dinner, a quick drink, or

an evening out. There is outside dining when the

weather is right, which in Charlotte North Carolina

is most of the time.  There is a well appointed

dining room, spots for intimate dining and a

gorgeous wood bar where you can sit to watch

your favorite team blow away the opposition.  If

you want more action than that, you can retire to

the game room where there numerous opportunities

to exercise your imagination and your competitive

nature by trouncing a companion at one of these

games.

Jackalopes

found it necessary to post ground rules for the

behavior of its guests. Prohibiting Fakirs and

Rogues I can understand, but I wonder what they

have against Tinkers.  When one gets holes in

one's pots, one needs a Tinker to insert a dam.

On the other hand, the rate for a night's lodging

is quite reasonable at one shilling.  I don't think

there is any place where I could stable my horse

for four pence.  When I saw this, I wished I had

stayed here instead of the Quality Inn where a

bed cost me about fifty gold sovereigns.  Live

and learn!

Jackalope's

bar was nearly full, when I was there, and people

often don't like finding images of themselves on the

internet with a glass of beer in their hand.  So, we

skipped photographing the bar.  Maybe Jackalopes

will send us a picture of it when no one is present

who wants to remain anonymous.

The original head bar tender, Elmer F.

MacJackalope, was so dedicated to this place that

when he passed away, they had him stuffed so he

can still be here.  That's him, above, one frame to

the right.

Jackalope's

is very dedicated to sports lovers and to good

times.  "NFL for the Soul" is a teaser in that

direction.  The game room can't be beat! If you

look carefully, you will find that they even have

indoor bicycle parking.

This might be a good place for Eats Waller to

visit.  They have even made a game out of eating.

If you order their bucket of chili and eat it within

forty five minutes, you get a t-shirt, a list.ing on

the wall of fame-shame and the chili is on the

house!

Jackalope's

events calendar is loaded.  There is Trivia on

Tuesday nights, Karaoke, Thursday, Friday and

Saturday beginning at 10:30 P.M. The

Birthday Club provides a free meal on your

birthday.  And if you want to schedule a special

party, like for the Middle Finger Salute on

October 25, you can do that too.  We're not sure

yet, what Jackalope's has in mind for the Single

Digit Salute celebration, but I'm sure we'll find out

soon.  The best part of Jackalope's is the menu.

Most menus we plot out here, but Jackalope's

formatting is better than ours so
