This is the pool room, not the billiards parlor.  Eight-Ball is the game of choice.

Celebrate this British Holiday with a British sport - DARTS.

The venue is relaxation and chatter.  The menu is middle finger foods. Honest!

Is the glass on the table half full, or half empty?  One must decide!

Mardi Gras has three large bars.

Sometimes, they're all full!

Art Lovers?  Sorry.  Art isn't here just now, but Henry is.

Henry 8 is demonstrating how to Pluck Yew using that Drum Stick.  Henry likes to talk with his hands.

So is a certain Princess who come here.

Above is Princess Joyce.  Joyce is a BUNCH of fun, but beware.  That's not a scepter in her hand.  It' a club.  Joyce likes Jack Daniels on the Rocks and she likes to sip it slowly on hot summer evenings on the covered porch of the Mardi Gras.  From there she can watch the tourists ride their trolleys and trains to and fro upon the Earth.

If you want to meet Joyce, just come on down to the Middle Finger Birthday Party October 25.

Mardi Gras frequently has live music.  Sunday February 21, when I dropped by to take these snaps, the band was just warming up. The versatility of some of these musicians is amazing.  The guitarist to the right, for example, was playing an ancient, traditional, Oriental melody on his electric guitar.  It has become a tradition among all musicians to play this melody first at every performance, but this man is a wizard in its mastery.  I'm sure you will recognize the name of the song.  It's called

TU-Ning

Mardi Gras is one of the most popular of St. Augustine's downtown watering holes. This sports bar sports plenty of amenities for the adventurous and the curious.  In the city, this is Bike Central, but if you prefer pool, darts, or just plain chatting with your Buds over a Bud, this is the place.

Shock Top can be found in Mardi Gras' trophy room.  This is a brand from Anhueser-Busch but it's a genuine Witbier.  The Beer Advocate recently reviewed this brand.  To read what they said about it, click HERE.

Mardi Gras has no MENU at the present time.  Foods available include a wide variety of finger foods and hot dogs.  Sometimes, for special events, they make other arrangements.  This writer has had some pretty excellent meals in this place, but not recently. Tomorrow is another day and no one knows just yet, what Mardi Gras will plan for the Middle Finger Birthday Party.  One thing I know is that there will be good music, cold beer and good friends - and just maybe, Princess Joyce will show up.

As you drive north on San Marco Avenue from downtown St. Augustine, you will pass the old mission, La Mission De La Nombre De Dios.  Central to that scene is a huge cross, two hundred eight feet high made of stainless steel.  If you look closely, you may see a large American Bald Eagle perched on top of the cross.  It has been showing up there for the last few months, sometimes with its mate.  We were wondering if they were trying to figure out how to anchor a nest up there and hoping they would decide against the idea.  The top of that cross has issues with things like lightning and hurricane force winds.  It's probably not a good place for an eagle's nest.  As you study the cross, you will probably hear music in the distance.  That would be the Mardi Gras, lying next door to the Mission on the north side.
