The Liberty! has a beer well!! If you've read the StrathNaver Legends you know what a Wine Well is, but to learn about the Beer Well, you have to come to Charlotte, North Carolina and visit the Liberty. Like the Wine Well, this Beer Well was built by Elves, but in Die Schwarze Wald. It's secret is lost in the mists of time but this last one still exists at The Liberty. It is true Elf magic. It never runs dry, no matter how much beer is drawn from it. And what a delight it is to drink from it. This is a true Haven in the middle of Charlotte North Carolina. Some say its secret is in the magic of the chandelier (left), because the number of pilsner glasses it's made of is a closely guarded secret of the Brew Master. The spell that it brings, is to Drink Well, Love Well, Be Well. |

The Mini- Beer Well (above) I was told, is an early experiment used in developing the actual Beer Well (left). This is the only one remaining in existence and it is as closely guarded as the secret of the well itself. One lone Elf was left to guard it (left frame, lower right). She was very reluctant to allow me to get these photographs but she knew I couldn't replicate the Beer Well, so she finally relented. |

Visiting The Liberty was a real delight. It's snuggled quietly on South Boulevard, waiting to be found and loved. The dining areas exude warmth and charm, making it impossible to not relax (Right, Left and above Left). The bar (below) is beautiful, polished wood, long enough to remind one of the neighborhood taverns of past eras. Additional dining in the tap-room provides a bit different kind of intimacy with plenty of television sets available for the sports buffs. Outside dining, when the weather is right (two frames down), makes for a pleasant dining experience, most of the year. The Liberty provides an area for private dining that can seat up to 65 people. The Events Calendar is lite for September 2010, but I'll bet the October calendar will have a special event on the 25th. |

The Liberty has a fireplace (below ) in one of the dining rooms. That's perfect for hearth-side dining on cold dreary nights and Charlotte gets those from time to time. Nothing can be nicer than sitting next to the fire with someone you love and dining on a Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese or a Grilled Neman Ranch Flatiron Steak. Just thinking about it, makes me want to run over to The Liberty and get one. |

The Liberty has an enormous menu of Draft Beer (over twenty taps), Glass Houses contains 24 brands ranging all the way from Schmaltz Maltz's He-Brew, the Chosen Ale to Founder's "Dirty Bastard" Ale. There are Dutch Beers, German Beers, Scottish Beers, Irish Beers and for the hearty - Duck Rabbit Milk Stout! I'd love to try Old Speckled Hen English Pale Ale. The prices range from $2.50 all the way to $36.00 for a bottle of Carroll's Meade from New York. Most of them are from $3.00 to $5.00. The Liberty has one of the very best drink menus I've ever seen. There is certainly a drink here for every taste. I suggest you go there and ask for the drink menu. They probably rotate them somewhat, so a menu here would be obsolete in a matter a few weeks. |
