Middle Finger Birthday Party October 25 at The Sandbar Pub (across the street from the beach) 7025 Highway A1A South St. Augustine, Florida 32080 |
You can tell this is a nice shady spot by how bright the landscaping is beyond the deck area. This is a great spot to catch the breezes while sipping a cold drink. |
The Sandbar Pub is located in the heart of what the local folks call "Crescent Beach" because of the crescent shape of the coast line in that immediate area. If parties get too hot, they're in luck at the SandBar. The Crescent Beach Fire Station is almost across the street. Parties do get hot at the Sandbar. The Sandbar features a great outside deck with a teak bar a barbecue spot and constant access to the sea breezes off the Atlantic Ocean. The cones next to the barbecue grill (right) are generally put on the heads of people who show up on rice-burners. It's a polite tradition honored in many famous motorcycle related entertainment spots. The parking lot has plenty of room for parking all sorts of vehicles and despite local legends, when it's full, one really can still hear the music over the sound of the engines. |

This is the deck's prime spot. One can't quite see the surf, but we can hear it. |
The Sandbar is noted for its music. The tones and genre usually match the season and the event. Speaking of events, here are a couple of important ones that are coming very soon: End of Bike Week Party - March 7 The Sandbar Pub is just one Happy Hour's drive north of Daytona Beach. Middle Finger Birthday Party -- October 25 If you squint a little, you can almost SEE England from here. |

About five miles south of here, some time back, Pedro Menendez encountered two hundred fifty French Huguenots who had claimed North America over Spain's first dibs. There he slaughtered them, all in one day, as the story goes. At low tide, with a west wind, after a storm, so they say, one can still find gold coins on the east side of the Matanzas River (River of Massacre), so named for the event. So, as you pull up a stool at the bar, and take your first sip of your first brew, give a toast to that historic event that founded the first continuously occupied European settlement in the North America. |

The main bar room is cozy and classic family style arrangement where good friends can meet and greet. Smoking is permitted. |
"Fast Eddie" (Bresch) and the legendary David Emerick once played here while on the lam from Lucky's Elbow Room in Lancaster Pennsylvania. There was an unfortunate misunderstanding there with the local constabulary. That's all settled now. |
I think we can say with confidence, the Sandbar Pub is one of St. Augustine's best kept secrets. |
If you can't find a seat in the front bar, take a step into the back room. That's where a lot of the action takes place at the Sandbar. There is a second, long bar (center) with plenty of comfortable stools, a full bar and usually lots of people. On special occasions, the Sandbar has been known to produce food. We're not sure, yet, what will be available for the End of Bike Week Party or for the Middle Finger Birthday Party but as the Sandbar fills us in, we will update this page so that you know too. |
